This & That.........

Anyone remember me? I hardly remember me. I have only been acquainted with the working me, the last 60++ days in a row
Since I would not want anyone else to write a blog post for me, I wait. Not the best use of social media but I see this as our exchange, you and I. Promises to myself to do better........seem to take a back seat

One thing I have embraced is INSTAGRAM.  Many long lost bloggers are there, I find it to be an intimate way to stay in contact with designers, businesses, and of course friends or hey, movie stars if that is your vibe. Some of those I follow really inspire me from Morocco, England, Jordan, Sweden and France. Because it is so quick, I'm pretty close to my goal of one post a day. Give it a try, I had to be coerced.

Back to blogging....... as soon as landscape season hits, alongside interiors &; the shop........I'm drawn and quartered. So much has happened I'll think, "oh, have to write a blog post about that!" then promptly move onto something else, forgetting what I wanted to share.....

So here is what I remembered......sad, I know......

Atlantas Gift Market
My maiden name was Byers, (buyer) get it? Cannot get enough of shopping for the store and for our clients. Back at the shop goods are flying in with the holidays coming up. Did I just say that? The holidays?
Well look at the summer, 30 seconds ago it was spring.

Trends………..
Indigo everything, gray is still with us but manufacturers are trying to shake up the grey phenomena

Mohair, the fabric. On the pricey side l but  pillows are doable, throws, I even saw holiday ribbon...yes, I bought some for the shop, very very cool
Tribal inspired,  everywhere.  Art, fabrics, especially Mud Cloth, furniture, these stools which are really comfy, and even wallpaper

Here we go,  Indigo & Tribal

Other Discoveries………

Frizzy Hair?????
NO MORE….really, and I did not have to have a treatment. Sachajuan Hair Cleansing Cream from Sweden. Having read about someones changed hair, I had to try……anything to avoid the summer frizz/brillo pad/electrocuted looking hair of summer. It worked, even in Atlanta in July, perfectly calm hair,
smooth and even.
My stylist asked what I did as the texture of my hair had actually changed, "who's hair is this?" she asked, disbelief on her face.    YES!!! (fist pump)

HAIR CLEANSING CREAM
REFRESH YOUR HAIR WITH THE NEW SACHAJUAN HAIR CLEANSING CREAM, WHICH CLEANSES THE HAIR USING A NEW, NONTRADITIONAL TECHNIQUE BASED ON CARING WAXES.
THE NEW CREAM FORMULA DOES NOT LATHER BUT CREATES SHINE, LUSTER, MOISTURE AND SOFTNESS WHILE REFRESHING YOUR HAIR. SUITABLE FOR ALL HAIR TYPES INCLUDING DRY, BLEACHED, COLORED OR DAMAGED HAIR.
APPLY ON WET HAIR AND MASSAGE FIRMLY INTO THE SCALP FOR ONE MINUTE, LEAVING THE PRODUCT TO ABSORB INTO THE HAIR DURING YOUR DAILY ROUTINE. RINSE WITH WARM WATER TO ALLOW THE PRODUCT TO SOAK INTO THE ENDS OF THE HAIR – REPEAT IF NECESSARY.
ALLOW ONE WEEK OF CONSISTENT USE FOR THE SCALP TO ADJUST TO THIS NEW INNOVATIVE WAY OF CLEANSING

Have a pool?
When our pool opens I begin the fruitless process of coming up with something that will save the little critters that fall in. Frisbees, floating pieces of wood, styrofoam…..and my husbands ire. But, I cannot bear looking in to find a downward facing, floating animal. That is until I this discovery…..
Not one critter this season. I placed one on each side of the pool, and magic, a wildlife savior. They easily climb the ramp to safety and that makes me so happy.

While in Atlanta, I went around to my haunts and the antique shows.
My 24’ trailer and my van were loaded, packed….full!
After 10 days, the shop is nearly empty and I am headed back this week, two shopping trips back to back?! Those are pre-2008 levels, thrilled. Thank you all.

While in Atlanta I have a source for upholstery fabrics, often designer or of generally excellent quality at really good prices, so good that I am able to pass on to you . We are building our collection, all at $20.00 per yard. Includes linen, heavy tweeds for fall/winter and velvets, quilted.......

Rising star Ann Everett, a Chicago fashion Designer, is bringing her goods to the burbs
Ann is from Ireland and has channeled an old world aesthetic with a real modern twist culminating in  fun and elegant clothes plus leather bags. Really good leather. My all time favorite top is by Ann,  I am stopped all the time when I wear it.

Isn’t it always fun to drink wine & shop with girlfriends?  I always thought so, come on by!

Well that's a recap, minuscule one, but hope to be back sooner,  things have settled a bit........for now

  1. Hi Debra,
I've been extremely busy (read lazy) this summer and since the move to the new digs, I've promised myself I'd get back to IG and Pinterest, at least. Ah, well...I have nothing like your good reason(s) for missing, so I'm relieved to know you're doing well and you have some great things going on. I see you in IG and that's fun, but your posts are always a treat.
    xo,

  2. Interesting post, informative and inspiring. I have always displayed my mud cloths, and like a touch of tribal in a room. Nice to see it emerging again in various forms of design.

  7. Hi Debra.

It's been a while, yes, but I knew you'd show up as soon as you had something to share, as you do: the good news that mohair is on the menu for next season. Yes, I know it's hot and prickly in this weather, but, hey, that's why they sell slipcovers.

Also good news: the little gizmo that helps frogs get out of the pool. Here, in town, pools are hard to come by, and frogs are just about non-existent, but out your way, with all your gardens, I'm not surprised that lots of them find their way into your pool, and then, when they get in there, they find there's no way back out. That would drive me crazy: I'd feel like I killed them myself.

It used to bother me when I was walking to school, to pass up all the worms that had been washed into the gutter. I had to rescue them, because if I didn't do it, who would? I was always late for school, because I was on a Worm Rescue Mission, saving them from drowning once they went down the storm drain on the corner.

When report card time came around, I typically had a bunch of check marks in the "Tardy" column, but once I explained to my mother that I couldn't help it, that I was saving worms, she understood.

    Regards,

    Magnaverde.
